scienceBASEd – Research into the safety of nuclear waste management
BASE wishes to conduct this dialogue with experts and interested parties. Research topics and project results are the focus of this digital event series. scienceBASEd offers a platform for scientific discourse.
BASE invites you to a digital lecture series. Explaining research results, exchanging viewpoints, developing new research questions – these are central aspects of science. This is how new perspectives, ideas and results are generated. Join the discussion!
scienceBASEd: From geo-research to law
scienceBASEd offers insights into the research work at BASE. It is aimed primarily at experts and scientists, but interested laypeople can also find information on specialist topics here.
Project managers from in-house research and contract research present their results: topics range from geo-research to communication and media sciences, physics, geochemistry, mineralogy, sociology and much more.
In the search for a deep geological repository for high-level radioactive materials, the involvement of the public, the guarantee of nuclear safety and the consideration of interim storage facilities and transport of radioactive waste materials, a wide variety of research questions arise: can test conditions similar to those in a repository be created in underground laboratories? Is it possible to plan two repository mines at a single site – one for high-level and one for low- and intermediate-level radioactive materials? How do we find a repository site with the best possible safety? Can high-level radioactive materials be recycled? What are the advantages and disadvantages of digital participation formats?
Contribute your expertise to BASE research and discuss the results of the research projects!
