The EGU annual meeting will take place in Vienna in May 2026. With more than 1,000 scientific sessions and a wealth of specialist contributions, it is Europe’s largest geoscience conference.Abstracts can now be submitted for the interdisciplinary session led by BASE on regulatory aspects of deep geological repositories.

The third international symposium on research into nuclear waste management: safeND 2025 Kategorie: Research |Date: 2025.09.19

Under the motto “Time as a Safety Factor: Opportunities and Challenges of Timely Nuclear Waste Disposal”, the safeND symposium took place for the third time from 17 to 19 September at the Radialsystem in Berlin. This year, the focus for the 350 participants from 18 nations was once again on international and interdisciplinary exchange regarding the current state of science in the field of nuclear waste management.

BASE as part of the German delegation at the IAEA General Conference Date: 2025.09.15

BASE publishes new survey results on the repository search Kategorie: Research |Date: 2025.03.10

Since 2020, BASE has commissioned a representative survey of the German population every two years to assess public attitudes toward the repository search. It is the only long-term study of its kind in Germany on the selection of a site for high-level radioactive waste. In the latest, third wave of the survey, a clear majority of 70 percent supports the search for a repository in Germany.
